WEST JEFFERSON, Ohio — At least four people were dead Monday in a shooting at an apartment in Madison County, reports say.
WCMH Channel 4 reports the shooting occurred at about 5:30 p.m. Three victims were found inside the apartment in a duplex and one was found outside. Three males and a female were killed.
Police tell the Columbus Dispatch the shooting likely occurred between 1 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., when it was reported. A passerby spotted a victim outside the apartment.
Initial reports said there were “multiple” victims outside the apartment, but police confirmed to WCMH there were four victims overall.
No arrests have been made and there was no information on possible suspects. West Jefferson Police Chief Christopher Floyd said late Monday that investigators weren’t sure “if it was a robbery gone bad or what it was.”
“This is a dead-end street,” Floyd said, according to the Associated Press. “It curves around to a business. There no other way in or out, so it’s not like there’s a car randomly driving down the street.”
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Madison County Sheriff’s office are assisting West Jefferson police. West Jefferson is located just west of Columbus.
