by Jul 22, 2022Health, Local News

The state of Ohio on Thursday reported 26,610 new cases of COVID-19 in its weekly dashboard update.

This week’s case total averages to about 3,801 cases per day over seven days. That’s slightly higher than last week but still below case totals in January, when they hit nearly 200,000 a week.

Total reported COVID-19 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic were 38,981.

The total COVID-19 case count since early 2020 has now reached 2,918,366.

A total of 7,389,358 Ohioans have received at least one vaccination, representing about 67.0% of Ohioans age 5 and up.

Since the beginning of 2021, there have been 24,050 deaths among people reported as unvaccinated, and 1,310 among people reported to be fully vaccinated. And there have been 71,772 hospitalized Ohioans who were not fully vaccinated, and 5,117 fully vaccinated people hospitalized.

The state does not report for COVID-19 cases whether people were vaccinated.

The total cases being reported recently likely are understated, as some people do not report at-home tests and others may not be testing at all.
