Weeknd announces 2022 stadium tour. But where’s Cleveland date?

by Mar 5, 2022Local News

CLEVELAND, Ohio — After leveling up his 2022 “After Hours Til Dawn” tour to stadium venues, it turns out popstar The Weeknd — aka artist Abel Tesfaye — will not be coming to Cleveland after all — at least on the first leg.

On Thursday, March 3, the artist announced his summer stadium tour with Doja Cat that will stop around North America, and no Ohio concerts are on the list. (The closest performance to Cleveland will take place at Chicago’s Soldier Field, a five-hour drive away.)

Back in 2020, The Weeknd had announced a tour in support of his album “After Hours,” with a stop in Cleveland scheduled for August. Like many other large events, that show was delayed several times due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In February 2021, the artist announced that he would reschedule his tour, with a Cleveland date set for January 2022. However, that show did not take place; the musician scrapped his entire 2022 tour plan, instead promising a stadium tour announcement in its stead.

Now, that announcement has arrived — and Cleveland, apparently, didn’t make the cut. Of course, more stops could be added to the tour. So stayed tuned.

The tour will celebrate two new albums from The Weeknd: 2020′s “After Hours” and 2022′s “Dawn FM.”
