AKRON, Ohio — A 17-year-old male has died after a car lost control and went into the canal Sunday in the Middlebury neighborhood, the second fatality from the crash, police say.
A third male, age 18, remains in critical condition at Summa Health Akron City Hospital, according to police. A 25-year-old man died Sunday in the crash.
The crash occurred at about 6:12 p.m. at the intersection of Case and East Market streets, police say. The three males reportedly were in a white Saturn that was going south on Case Avenue at a high rate of speed. The Saturn ran a red light and struck a Chevy Cruze that was making a left turn north onto Case from East Market Street.
