AKRON, Ohio — Police believe high speed was a factor after 66-year-old woman was killed Sunday and two other people were seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash near the East Akron neighborhood.
A white Chevrolet S10 pickup truck was traveling at high speed east on East Market Street near Seiberling Street at about 2 p.m. when a Ford Explorer pulled from a driveway. The Explorer hit the pickup truck, causing it to roll onto its left side.
The 57-year-old male driver of the pickup truck and a 35-year-old male passenger were ejected from the truck. Both were taken to a hospital with serious injuries. The 66-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the front seat of the pickup, was pronounced dead at the scene, police say.
The driver of the Escort, a 43-year-old woman, had minor injuries. Two other people in the Explorer were not injured.
The crash remains under investigation. Police did not release the identities of the people involved.
