TOLEDO, Ohio — A 10-year-old girl was killed and her uncle was wounded in a drive-by shooting Saturday afternoon, according to reports.

Damia Ezell was taken to a hospital after the shooting but she died of her wounds, WTOL Channel 11 reports. Her uncle, Kenneth White, 24, was hospitalized in stable condition, WTVG Channel 13 reports.

Police tell WTVG that White was driving at about 1 p.m. Saturday with his niece inside the vehicle when a dark-colored vehicle drove up. Someone in the other vehicle opened fire on White’s vehicle, police say.

“It is so unfortunate that a child was murdered today in broad daylight by individuals or [an] individual that is sitting somewhere going on with their life,” Toledo City Councilwoman Vanice Williams tells WTOL. “You are a despicable person and deserve whatever karma has waiting for you.

“I send my condolences to the family and I am here for you. The community is hurt tonight and we need to come together to help bring these individuals to justice. Lord bless Toledo tonight.”

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, according to reports.
