A Summit County jury is recommending two life sentences for a man who was convicted of intentionally running over another man and the victim’s 21-month-old daughter, killing them.
Shawn Allen, 37, of Canton, was found guilty on May 26 of three counts of aggravated murder, two counts of murder, and tampering with evidence, Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh says. The jury is recommending that Allen be eligible for parole after serving 30 years in prison.
Allen is accused in the July 12, 2020, killing of 43-year-old Horace Lee and Lee’s daughter, Azeria Tucker. Prosecutors say Allen and Lee got into a fight outside a restaurant on East Exchange Street. Following the altercation, Lee ran off while pushing his daughter in a stroller.
Police say Allen jumped into his Cadillac Escalade and chased after Lee. Allen reportedly spotted Lee a few blocks away walking on the sidewalk when he intentionally ran over Lee and his daughter. Lee and his daughter both died at the scene.
Judge Susan Baker Ross is scheduled to sentence Allen in the next two months.
