UNIONTOWN, Ohio — A 74-year-old Stark County man is in custody after a Trumbull County man was killed Sunday night in a shooting, authorities say.
Nicholas A. Oostdyk, 41, of Newton Falls, died in the shooting at a residence on the 12000 block of Starlight Circle NW, according to the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office. An autopsy shows Oostdyk died of gunshot wounds to the head and body.
Uniontown police say Alfred Johnson, 74, who lives in the residence where the shooting occurred, is being held in the Stark County Jail on a murder charge. Police have not released details on what led to the shooting.
Police say the shooting occurred at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Officers found Oostdyk inside the residence with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to to Akron City Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:10 p.m.
