A Canton man who killed an Akron man and his 21-month-old daughter by running them over with his vehicle has been sentenced to life in prison.
Shawn Allen, 37, will be eligible for parole after serving 63 years in prison, according to Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh. Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Susan Baker Ross issued the maximum sentence allowed.
Allen was found guilty on May 26 of three counts of aggravated murder, two counts of murder, and tampering with evidence for killing 43-year-old Horace Lee and Lee’s daughter, Azeria Tucker, on July 12, 2020.
Prosecutors say Allen and Lee got into a fight outside a restaurant on East Exchange Street in Akron. Following the altercation, Lee ran off while pushing his daughter in a stroller.
Police say Allen jumped into his Cadillac Escalade and chased after Lee. Allen reportedly spotted Lee a few blocks away walking on the sidewalk when he intentionally ran over Lee and his daughter, who tried to escape by running up a driveway. Lee and his daughter both died at the scene.
