PARMA, Ohio — A Cleveland man is facing two counts of felonious assault in connection with a shooting Saturday during a birthday party that wounded two people, one critically.
Junior Thorpe, 28, is being held in jail on a $50,000 bond, according to Parma police.
The shooting happened about 10 p.m. Saturday at KD Party Center on State Road south of Snow Road, police say. Officers found a 28-year-old pregnant woman with a graze wound to her stomach and a 32-year-old man with a wound to the groin.
Police say the shooting occurred after a fight involving Thorpe and two others, including the man who was seriously hurt in the shooting. Thorpe reportedly was arrested at the party center after he dropped a handgun while walking past an officer while trying to leave.
Thorpe admitted to firing the shots after initially denying his involvement, according to police.
The pregnant woman was in stable condition Sunday morning, while the injured man was listed in critical condition. Police did not update their conditions on Monday.
