TOLEDO, Ohio — A 7-month-old girl riding in her father’s vehicle was killed Wednesday night when she was struck by gunfire in a drive-by shooting, reports say.

WTVG Channel 13 reports the girl’s father Jeremiah Hughes, 20, tells police he was at an intersection at about 8 p.m. Wednesday when another car pulled up. The occupants of the other car opened fire, grazing Hughes but hitting Desire in the chest, police say.
Desire was taken to a hospital but died of her wounds. No arrests have been made, but police are hoping residents can lead them to the suspects.
Kapszukiewicz tells WTOL that gang violence is to blame for most shootings in Toledo.
“It’s not fair,” Kapszukiewicz said. “Whether it’s the 10-year-old back in February or the 7-month-old last night, that a young person loses her life because of the bad decisions made by the grownups in her life.”
