A woman wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of another woman in Cleveland in September was arrested last week in New York, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
Cierra Mack, 30, was taken into custody Friday morning by marshals, police and members of the New York-New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force at an apartment near the 80 block of Clarkson Avenue in Brooklyn, authorities say. Mack was wanted by Cleveland police for aggravated murder.
Mack is accused of the fatal shooting of Chiffion Jefferson, 28, in front of her three young children in the hallway of an apartment at Garden Valley Apartments on Sept. 11, according to the Marshals Service.
Jefferson was taken to University Hospitals but died of her wounds. Mack fled after the shooting and was on the run ever since.
“Seeking justice for the victim’s family, specifically her three innocent children, her sister and her mother, was all the motivation our task force members needed to relentlessly pursue this violent fugitive over the past several months,” U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said in a statement.
