AKRON, Ohio — A third suspect in the fatal shooting of a man in Akron in December has been arrested in Reno, Nevada, by federal agents.

The U.S. Marshals Service took Dorrell Davis Jr., 21, into custody on a murder warrant, Akron police say. Davis is one of three men charged in connection with the shooting death of Tyrae Carter, 21, on Dec. 3 in the Kenmore neighborhood.

Two other suspects in the shooting currently are in the Summit County Jail, each being held on $1 million bonds. Javion Rankin, 19, is charged with aggravated murder and murder, robbery, aggravated robbery, theft, and weapons and drugs charges.

The charges against Kashmar Mingo, 21, include aggravated murder, murder, and aggravated robbery.

Officers responded around 6 p.m. on Dec. 3 to a call of a shooting near Tampa Avenue and 28th Street SW, according to a police report. Police found Davis in a vehicle with apparent gunshot wounds, the report states. He died at the scene.

Investigators also used DNA to connect Rankin to the robbery of a 59-year-old woman on Dec. 4, also in the Kenmore neighborhood. Police say the victim was entering her apartment on the 1100 block of Nestor Avenue when a man approached and tried to grab her purse. The woman was knocked down, kicked and dragged through mud during the struggle.
