AKRON, Ohio — An 18-year-old male is in a hospital in serious condition after he was shot multiple times in the East Akron neighborhood, police say.
Officers were called to the 1100 block of Chesapeake Drive at about 2:40 p.m. Tuesday. Investigators say the teen was shot by an unknown suspect, who ran from the scene with several other males. Police are still trying to determine a motive for the shooting.
The victim had been put into the back of a vehicle and driven away before officers arrived. The vehicle with the victim inside was found moments later in a parking lot on the 1200 block of South Arlington Street in the Firestone Park neighborhood.
Officers gave the teen medical aid until an ambulance arrived and took him to Summa Health Akron City Hospital, police say.
