A 16-year-old boy who had been shot in the chest early Tuesday morning is expected to survive, taken to the hospital after he ran up to a car asking for help, according to police.
Officers were called to to the area of Power and Allyn streets downtown just after midnight after receiving reports that shots had been fired. When they arrived, the victim was gone, but officers reportedly found clothing that showed someone had been wounded.
Police say they learned the teen had run up to a vehicle asking for help after he had been shot. Moments later, officers were told the victim had been dropped off at Cleveland Clinic Akron Medical Center.
The teen told police he was shot by an unknown person on the other side of town, but a crime scene could not be located. The shooting remains under investigation.
